They play Australian music. Their lyrics deal with Australian themes. And perhaps rarest of all they manage to sing Aussie.
Convict Cuntry Rock 'n' Roll...
Mixing Celtic convict songs, stark bush balladry, strong union content and a youthful punk attitude. Sydney City Trash represent something refreshing amongst the plethora of Australian acts at the moment. They play Australian music. Their lyrics deal with Australian themes. And perhaps rarest of all they manage to sing with Australian accents.
The Loud and the Bad....
Mitch Hell - Vocals:
Mitch is the mouth for the band being the primary lyricist he combines a unique love of old Australian songs with modern elements of rap and punk. Mitch's singing style is somewhere between Slim Dusty and a swift kick the teeth. Mitch is the founding member and remains the creative force behind The Trash.
Paddy - Acoustic/ Larger Phone/ Telecaster:
Paddy was the second member to climb aboard the good ship Trash. An experienced and talented guitarist and singer Paddy brings a lot to the band. He writes music, lyrics and is tireless in his efforts to organise and keep the momentum of the band going. All this and Paddy also plays in 2 other bands.
Browny - Telecaster/ Acoustic/ Drums:
Browny is a Country Music thoroughbred. He was recruited from the gutter of Mitch and Paddy's hometown Tamworth. His talent in writing music helped to shape the sound of the band today. Browny is one of the many talented musicians in the band and his guitar solos have become a favourite amongst audiences.
Jim Bones - Fiddle/ Acoustic/ Didgeridoo:
Of course all bush bands need a fiddle and Bones was the only man for the job. Bones is also a talented guitarist and didgeridoo player. The fiddle is one of the key elements in building the Trash sound. Bones also writes music for the band and is heavily involved in the organisation of shows and tours. Besides his fiddle duties Bones can also be seen riffing it up with Sydney metal band Punisher.
Pig - Bass:
Despite his name Pig is defiantly the sex symbol of the band. Pig provides the thumping bass behind the Trash. Pig is always an audience favourite he thrusts his bass all over the stage. His talent is not restricted to bass alone Pig is also the bass guitarist, songwriter and singer for legendary Sydney punksters Povvo.
A.B.W Howie II - Drums/Art/Harmonica:
Like the cow that bears his name Angus is one Hairy stud, whether he's beating up a storm behind the drums, wowing the ladies upfront with his harmonica skills, or drawing his guns (it's a pun stupid!?). Gus is the genuis behind the SC Trash Artwork he'll draw anything except a sunrise cause I dont think he's ever seen one....
The Mission....
Following in the footsteps of bands like Redgum, Midnight Oil, The Bushwhackers and Roaring Jack. Sydney City Trash infuses their fast paced high-energy set of originals with traditional Australian songs creating a stage presence that is impossible to ignore. Like some demonically possessed Bush Band the Trash will make you dance a jig wether you want to or not. The Trash will be embarking on a tour of Australia in July of 2005 playing rural and metropolitan areas.
Classic Country Hits...
While its best to experience the Trash live the next best thing can be found on their new EP 'Classic Cuntry Hits'. Recorded at legendary Country music studio Hilltop and mixed by the famous Gary Brown the EP is 9 songs of solid country gold. It has received rave revues from critics and audiences alike with Croxton Country Mainstays the Remains proclaiming the Trash "the progenitors of Australian Country" and Flange front man Steve Forde declaring the Trash "The best thing to happen to Australian country in years". The Trash will go into the studio again in late 2005 to work on their debut album 'Once Upon A Time in Australia' to be released on Sold Our Soul records.
G’day all,
It has been a while since anything has been writen here so I thought I would let you all know what it is we are up to and give you the lowdown on the upcoming cd....
We have just finished touring with Run for Cover and had a ball. Great shows, good friends and even a baby! Thanks to all the bands who were kind enough to play with us and to all the promoters, friends and kickers that made it possible. The most memorable part of the tour for me was getting lost in rural Victoria in search of deisel fuel.. Here’s a quick rundown....we literally rolled into the only petty station for "ing ages" (according to Shirley behind the counter) only to find the diesel pump was broken and there was no way to fill up. We had zero fuel and were a long way from anywhere. It was at about 2 in the afternoon at this point and we had been driving all night from Newcastle and not one of us had had any sleep and nearly everyone was way to hungover to deal with the considerably dire situation we had somehow ended up in. We considered draining the deep fry oil out of the service station’s kitchen vats, disscussed the pros and cons of running the bus on unleaded fuel and toyed with the idea of flagging down ping truckies and asking for a dip into their reserves which no one wanted to do. Just imagine Luki in his easy E cap flagging down a truck in country victoria to ask a favor? Not happening. They would run the lot of us over before they stopped. Were were reaching the point of nearly killing each other as it was looking like we were going to miss the Melbourne Arthouse show. Just when things were about to turn sour and Pig had already sent me a message saying "I hate you. You are a fat ", the pump repair man arrived and saved the day. Thanks Andy!! We got back on the road to Melbourne with a swag of pies and steak sandwich’s and the rest is drunken history......
But the time has come for us to stop ing around and record. It has been 2 years since our last relaease and we don’t want to be like Propaghandi with stupid gaps between recordings. We have decided to make our next release an EP, cause albums cost lots of money and that is something we just don’t have. We aim to record a bunch of clic SC Trash songs and have it ready by the end of the year. We also have a live album that we recorded at the Brisbane Hotel in Hobart that we aim to release at the same time as the EP. We have big plans for touring and gigging over the summer with the help of our Irish friends Steve and Fran at Troupadour Music..... Bring it on!!
In short, good things come to those who wait, so keep one eye on the horizon for the greatest SC Trash release to date.
Stay tuned for details of some one off shows we plan to do around the Sydney basin, and we look forward to bringing you all some new music as soon as we can.
Thanks for the continued support.
Paddy
