"Big Red Candle's mix has been a gradual congealing of crimson wax-thick noise around a virtual wick of constant tension, nobody knows if it's really intentional though. The Candle owes much of its approach to the acerbic approach of screechy noisemakers Hot Snakes, Fugazi and Les Savy Fav, the old school grit of Celibate Rifles and Beasts Of Bourbon and the outright schizophrenic tempo changes pioneered by Frank Zappa and followed up by Mr Bungle. Big Red Candle are split, not just personality wise, but geographically between West End in Brisbane and Miami on the (cough) Gold Coast. They like to play."
