So just quickly. Go and check out Buffet Libre This cool Spanish site. They asked us to do a cover of an 80's clic so we chose Hall & Oates - 'I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)' It's a part of a big project that has artists from all over the world doing covers of 80's tunes. You can even download it and keep it for yourself. Moustaches and mullets are a must. You totally have to watch the little video on the page too it's amazing.

.. Hey all. So, since we last spoke we have gone full steam ahead into the oblivion of LESS TALK MORE PROBLEMS, holding hands with bluejuice. We started the tour in Adelaide, and with heads and hearts full of expectation we took to the stage like madmen, full of fine south australian beer. It was truly a fun show, we really appreciated the crowd going mental and waving fists in the air. It was quite a drunken train wreck of an evening, and time flew by containing only minor injuries and I even signed a foosball. Have a look atphotos here read Jake's (Bluejuice) account of the sojourn here. Read a review HERE!!!!
So then we flew back heads on tray tables, some paying high prices for television on the plane to Sydney. I sweated coopers pale and we sound checked and set up at The Gaelic Club. 8pm- me, there was the largest queue i've ver seen for a show i've ever been involved in, in fact there was a queue for a show i was involved in- I had to duck around the back. Sorry to all cousins and friends who tried ti call me, i freaked out and put my phone on silent. It was a slightly more sedate show (thanks to hangover), but still mental all the same, there were over 800 people in there, so thanks to all that got mively squished and stood in the line for ages. It did feel like all our hard work had paid off somewhat, so thank you hometown lovers. Syd photos here So then both bands played at the Essential Festival which was fun and got to see a bunch of bands. Then it was off to Perth- Where we played at Amplifier. Perth is so far away. I'm not sure if it was just the geography of it all, or the fact that i had personal isolation issues, but i felt a long way away, a sense of cold or just being removed from where i normally am,- that feeling yo get when you travel overseas. So this all lead to a really fun ed up night, I remember breaking strings and jumping on the drum riser, and watching bluejuice pour tequila and man sweat all over the crowd who were like a sea of teenagers on alchopops that had been laced with speed. I then remember trying to crump out some of the locals on the dancefloor as PHDJ (who we took with us in our suitcase) played some banging tunes as we called rewind!!! and then waking up in the morning with concern for my band mates as Xav cooked breakfast, ivan was wretchedly ill and tom was like death in bed. I managed to rub my eyes and talk to Sarah Howells on JJJ, which was nice, she was very jovial and sounded much more awake than me. Fremantle is beautiful, no disrespect, but it makes Perth look even more like Penrith than it actually does. It is gives you a ice relaxed feeling like you are on holidays when you have to be very authoritarian and disciplined and play to the peoples. Ok, so I am truly sorry about our show in Freo people, it was a combination of rainy sunday night, hangovers, tiredness and just a bit of a comedown from all sold out shows, compared to only 50 people in the room, that made us arrive at what i thought was a bit of a lacker set, I am sorry i think we got there in the end and we had fun the whole time, but it wasn't the best show we've ever played. So with the West somewhat conquered, we have now conquered the hippies and lesbians in Katoomba. The three sisters watched as we played last and had Doug join us on BAritone sax, and we played really well despite Ivan being sick as a dog with flu. Maybe it was the crisp air, or maybe it was the fat that i on;y had a few gles of wine with a lovely dinner of cog au vin, but i felt there was a lucidity and purity to the show, we truly were focused. A notable mention to Philadelphia Grand Jury who kicked in the opening spot with some strange heady mix of soul and punk, they are a relatively new band that are stil working out their sound but it was straight up fun and loud and put the mountainers in a good mood.
So this weekend we head to the lands of sea and coal, mining and industry, tonight Wolliongong, saturday night Newcastle. See you there panda bear. love Jai TPS

In other news- Thanks ssooooooooooo much to all the lovely fine folks that came to the Jive Bar show in Adelaide it was an amazing show; too much coopers and so weatty and fun. Thanks to Fire! Santa Rosa Fire! who opened up, yeah, a great way to start the tour. Cheers Radelaide. Oh and the markets are nice down there too. here's review from Jive Bar And thanks sooo much to the fine folks of Sydney who helped cram 800 ing people into the Gaelic and sell it out! Thanks to Bridgemary Kiss who are one of the most promising and tight young bands I've seen in a long time. Sorry to anyone who got turned away,a nd sorry that the queue was so slow to get in and a bit of a fight, I hope it was worth it all in the end. It was very fun and so nice to have a great home town show for us and BJ. here are some photos Thanks. Besides the Essential festival next week (Anzac day), we are with Bluejuice in Perth Saturday 26th and Fremantle Sunday 27th. head over to moshtix to get tix for these shows and the Essential Festival. be quick because things selling out like icy poles on hot days.

SYDNEY MUFFUGGIN AIRPORT. So, here I am again, typing at the domestic- this seems to be the place to catch up on blogs. Had all sleep and then get to airport at 730am on Sunday morning (i'm not religious, but this is a very ungodly time) and then I see a little nice cyan coloured 'cancelled' next to my flight. Woo! So now it's 4 hours until the beautiful Virgin boo can get me on another one. I always say I'll start flying with qantas or something, but always cheap out. Hey we are an independent band. Listening to Vampire Weekend, really good. (also- anyone got any ideas on Vampire songs? trying to put together a Vampire themed mix- got vampire/forest fire by Arcade Fire so far, and something by these guys) Worth all the hype I think, really nice melodic blines, skanky guitars and just great songs. Nice voice too, kinda like a cross between the Arctic Monkeys dude and Angus Stone. Segue- Been writing new tunes, not sure what for, or when the we going to record them, but they are all kind of heading into hooksville, short and melodic, which is just where they seem to be going. I don't know maybe I just been informed subconsciously by being a big fat sell out and want to make more big advertising dollars! (even though, for those doubters out there- all the money from the unwired commercial is going on our tour with bluejuice. So we do it for the love and the fans man, the fans.) Anyway, yeah what else? We did some very rustic b side recording the week just gone. We did a rework of The Bandit with ukulele, banjo, brushes/snare and whistling. It's going to be the Bside of the single, it will have the clip with it too (on the cd) which will be cool. Did an interview with a Tie Mag- A Fine Line, the other day, was cool, ended up talking about The Mighty Boosh for a while. Oh yeah, good vibes. was that an awesome show! (?) They opened the doors when we started our set, so about 20 people watched, there was no dressing room for us, we couldn't do a line check, and it is just a weird festival, too many people, and too many people giving 'big ups' to Justin Hemmes. 'Big ups' for cramming 40,000 people into this tiny little area. Nice one bruvva. Anyway- I'm now listening to 'Heatwave' By Martha and The Vandellas. . it's the most amazing song, so much joy and love, and the most amazing recording, it's all just big room sounds. I heard it at a friends house on 2ws (?) radio last night, and I just remembered I had it in my itunes. 2 1/2 minutes of such soul goodness. Anyway, this is probably really boring, but I'm just trying to indulge my complete excess of time and maybe give you some interesting information, but I'm probably better just reading my book. Reading The Raw Shark Texts, by Steven Hall, it's pretty good, about a guy who has amnesia, and then it tracks back into his memories and stuff (sounds kinda cheesy, but there is a nice contrast between the isolation and viloence of his amnesia and then really delicate pages about his memories, particularly with his girlfriend, really nicely written). I'm reading it for this night called Even Books, which I'm playing a solo set at - Thurs 13th Deans Cafe Cross. The night is kinda a cross between a book club and a performance night, tres bohemian darling. Anyway check it out (even books) Ok, so i was gona start talking about how much better 256k aac encryption is with itunes but I'm just gona off now, because people might read this and then stop listening to our band because I am such a soul sucking, useless nerd. It is now 945am, so only 2 hours until I board my flight! Much love and tedium, your very air conditioned servant Jai. On Behalf of The Paper Scissors

Covering 6 states, 2 territories and 1 hemisphere, The 'Less Talk, More Problems' Tour will see both bands tread the boards together throughout April / May.
The Bands
Recently shortlisted for The Amp 2007 awards, it's been nothing short of a phenomenal few months for Sydney's punk hoppers bluejuice. Vitriol, the 1st single from their debut album 'Problems' (****Rolling Stone) was the 2nd most played song on triple J in 2007, scored 11 in Triple J's 'Hottest 100 2007', was one of Rolling Stone Magazine's top 100 tracks of 2007 and the Australian iTunes 'Single Of The Week' during January 2008. Currently pushing 50,000 YouTube views, the Vitriol video also took out the highly coveted top spot in the nationwide 'Sunscreen Music Video Competition'.
New single The Reductionist has been on high rotation on JJJ for over 2 months. Rage placed the clip 3rd cab off the rank for its national debut on Jan 25th and continues to air it in poll position. Rage also made The Reductionist their 'Indie Clip of The Week' feature w/c Jan 28th.
Also hailing from Sydney, post-indie/soul four-piece The Paper Scissors first hit the national limelight in 2006 when their track We Don't Walk from their 'The Paper Scissors EP' was picked up by FBI, JJJ and Rage. The success of We Don't Walk in combination with their burgeoning reputation for frenetic, crowd-friendly, loud and tumultuous live shows, saw them hit stages nationwide with the likes of Midnight Juggernauts, Datarock, Patrick Wolf and at festivals such as Falls, Southbound and The Great Escape.
Released in 2007, their debut LP 'Less Talk, More Paper Scissors' ured their rapidly ascending position, both at home and abroad. The Sydney Morning Herald proclaimed of their first single: "Yamanote Line is the best song ever written. Truly". With Triple J placing Yamanote Line on high rotation, 2007 saw the band crisscrossing the country, further cementing legions of converted with what the Herald Sun called their "Growling brilliance".
The After Parties, The Video Blogging & The Bang For Your Buck

Now for a blog I wrote the other day>
So here I am at Gold Coast airport, just came up to Byron to sort some stuff out for the rest of the year/ The carpet here is hideous, I'm usually running late whenever I catch a plane here, but I was about 30 mins early tonight. Luck I could pay $4 for 30 mins internet which kept me entertained. Well enough chit chat, I have a few things that I am supposed to tell you. A. 'We Don't Walk' is going to be used in a Tv show, just a quick scene, the show is called Underbelly, it's going to be on channel 9, that would be called nbn where I am I think? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIbwi3Psl6o here is a trailer. Vince Colosimo is in it. I liked him in the secret life of us. It's a crime show and they use our song during a scene when some people are making drugs, we don't walk! wooooooo we make amphetamines! B. - So I just got cut off my net kiosk arrangement. Anyway, Virgin Blue is asking for 3 people to volunteer and stay in goldy for the night and get their flight for free, then fly in the morning. They are pretty hopeless. I better get on my flight before they dick me around. Oh and Unwired Internet bought We Don't Walk off us for an Ad, so keep an eye on the tele. It's actually a pretty cool, stop frame ditty.
This may be our last Blog for the year. Yet again, maybe it won't be. Who know. I am just in the mood. (if you haven't seen In The Mood For Love, do.) So to begin, let us gloat.
Flyer is by Red Ghost. So. After this we break for Christmas and Xavier is going away to Mexico, then we play Falls Fest o the 30th (Tent at 9pm) and then at Southbound opening the festival on Jan 5th, which should be great as none of us have ever been over that side of the country.
So with love and best wishes for the festive season we bid you adieu. Please join up to our mailing list on the homepage of our myspace. Stay safe, eat a lot, drink responsibly, see some music, hug a lover.
Ok. So we got a call yesterday telling us that we won a competition to play at Southbound Festival. That is exciting, come on get excited! None of us have ever been to W.A. We get to open for the likes of Kings Of Leon, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Groove Armada, The Waifs, The Go! Team, Jose Gonzalez, Built To Spill, Blackalicious, Girl Talk, Gotye, Lior, Midnight Juggernauts, Neville Staple's Specials, The Mess Hall, Angus & Julia Stone and The Beautiful Girls etc. And that is a week after we get to play with a lot of the same people at THE FALLS FESTIVAL. So life is good for a paper scissor.
Speaking of whcih, that is a good segue into introducing Mr Ivan Lisyak! He has joined our band as drummer. We are very excited to have him playing with us. He plays with Belles WIll RIng as well as us now. Bryce Stacker has sadly left the band after some conflict, and for some life responsibilities. We would like to thank Bryce for his amazing input into the music so far, his time and his love. It was a great privelege to have played music with you.
So in the last few weeks we have had some fun shows. It has been great to play for some youngsters at both the All Ages Patrick Wolf show, and at the Newtown Festival. We shot a few one take acoustic clips at Newtown, which will be on a website called Shoot The Player which is showcasing a lot of Sydney and other artists and is modelling itself on Blogoteque a French Website. The clip was helped by a large group of highschool aged TPS fans, who sang beatifully and wer very patient whilst we organized cameras and backing vocals and waited for other bands to be quiet. The results will be posted as soon as we hear from the filmmakers.
So I'm gonna go and watch Spicks and Specks now. Please go to our site or sign up on the myspaz page for our email monthly.
It has been a while since I last busted some rants on our blog page. It has been busy of late for the paper scissors. We been working on mixing our album, which took in a stint at a studio called the Oasis in Tallebudgera Queensland, with James Boundy Engineer extraodinaire. So after some 17 hour days in front of the ProTools rig and a load of rack gear we was pretty exhausted. That was followed byour show at The Great Escape FEstival, which was one of the moste fun shows we've played, thanks to all the peeps that were there, and especially the under 18's whom probably most of you saw us live for the first time. We promise we will do an all ages show in Sydney soon. Album will be out in July/August and a single in June. We will tour extensively with the aid of an arts council grant, so watch out all you regional folks. Also, like to say o to all our new friends, noticed a lot from the U.S. Good day. Thanks for being our friends. And everyone else. All our old friends that have been reading my rants for ages, thanks for sticking in there. We won some competition on Sonicbids, a music industry site so we got myspace feature artist, so our play have exploded. Anyone who wants to show more love and respect, and wants to take home some TPS. You can buy our EP from our site. BUY BUY BUY BU BUY BUY BUY BUY Sorry, that was straight out blatant, but we are also trying to make records and do it independently (sob). FOr those of you in Syders, see you at the Essential FEstival which should kick . Love jai on behalf of TPS
A YEAR IN A QUICK REVIEW 2006 Was big for The Paper Scissors. It was a big year in general musically, there were some great albums and releases from everywhere particularly from Australia; We TPS felt priveleged to have played with some of the bands- Red Riders who put out a great album in 'Replica Replica', Dappled Cities Fly with 'Granddance' Midnight Juggernauts who consistently put out banging shakeable electro, and some smaller up and coming, yet equally as talented folks such as Young & Restless who put out their debut EP, Tic Toc Tokyo who are playing around and writing great stuff, Ghosts Of Television who continue to get better and better every show, and who hopefully will have somethingout soon, Wons Phreely who has some of the best pop tunes you will hear,Pinky Tuscadero who entertained in the most theatrical of manners. We put out our EP which has done as well so far as we could have hoped. Without getting our brag on too much- we got great support from FBI who were instrumental in our getting some love and affection, which lead to triple J picking up 'we don't walk' and getting- some would say -'flogged'. We travelled around a little; reaching as North as Brisbane, as South as Melbourne,as West as Orange and as East as Byron Bay. We also recorded what will be our debut album. Myself and the other ("she likes the:") boys in the band are very excited and proud of how it sounds. So thankyou to anyone who helped: all the people that came to see shows, bought CD's, said "thankyou" in some way to us after a show, who played our tracks to friends/on the radio/in Dj sets. Our families, loved ones, lovers, friends, thankyou. And anyone who inspired us creatively or supported us.
Much Love and luck for 07 The Paper Scissors
for more reading see music blog- A Reminder which will lead you into a stream of many good features on 2006. They voted us at 17 out of the top 25 Aussie acts. Thanks!
So we are nearing the completion of the recording of the bulk of our album. There will be still things to fix up and tinker with, and then there is the whole business of actually putting it out, which will hopefully be a quicker studio to release time than our Ep, which took about 9-10 months to get out. At the moment we are tentatively titling it "Less Talk-More Paper Scissors". But that will probably change, or not. It sounds pretty good if I do say so myself. There are some big highs and lows, and it covers alot of ground. There will be about 12 tracks on it, trying to make it short, as I think and my compatriates agree, that short albums are best. One song is called "Tipped Hat" and features three drummers playing at the same time. One song "Yamanote Line" is big and slow and melodic but then gets fast and happy and clapping. "The Bandit" is a huge song, and sounds like the dreams of a chain smoker that is asleep on a windy beach at night. "Restless Through The Night" will keep those that enjoy a disco beat happy, and it is so gay that I just want to get a whistle and go to Ibiza. I danced around in the studio the other day with a 9 year old, and we made up dance moves to this song, so that proves that it is fun I suppose. There are some nasty rock songs too. Decmber 15th we are playing at the Hopetoun, and will see us play some of these songs to the outside world for the first time. Which I'm at the same time both ; as petrified as a 5 year old on his/her first day of school and excited as your nan wheh she gets her first great granchild. Tonight I am going to lead vocals for a few songs, which is also bothe exciting and nevr wracking. I just fell over in my chair, because it is missing a leg. That means that it is time to go eat dinner. I look forward to seeing any of you again that I know, or that will come to our shows. The others, I hate you. No not really, it just sounded dramatic. I love you. Well maybe not yet. Anyway, adieu. Jai Daniel Pyne On behalf of Bryce Aaron Stacker Thomas Robert Hespe Xavier Patrick Connor Naughton Collectively: THE PAPER SCISSORS

o nerds! Here we are in Sunny byron bay, tourists, backpackers, rednecks, surfies, hippies, seachangers, yuppies. All walks of life. We have been in the studio solid for the last 9 days, pulling some 2 or 3 am evenings, sometimes on tea, sometimes on cheap champagne, sometimes tequila. We have been recording drums only for the first couple of weeks here at Fracas. Fracas is the studio that my dad co owns in Byrons old Norco building. It is an old small goods factory, they used to smoke pigs in the room we are doing most of our tracking. Things have been going well, with us and our man Jason Mateo from Queens on the boards who has been helping out heaps. There are a few photos I uploaded on the page, and will be uploading some video as well. I am quite excited about the sound we are making. It is going to be disgustingly eclectic. We are currently working on one tune called ;restless through the night' which has a Mariachi intro, then segues into a kind of gay house/disco vibe then has an almost AC/DC breakdown. And then there are cuts that are almost folk/country, then some rockedy rock ones. I think it's goiung to be really good. And I would say that because they are my songs, so I can't wait to play it to the rest of the world, because at least then we can get a more objective view point. Oh, and we recorded on track that has three drum kits all playing at the same time!!! Bryce, myself and Arlo, my 14 year old brother are all playing the same beat and it sounds huuuugggge!! Anyway, that is all the info I can leak at the moment. Peace. Love. Avocado's. Jai TPS
yo. o to all those reading, all 5 of you. Last week of Sydneyness, before a 2 month break. Kind of hesitant, anxious and excited and happy and sad all at once. We have one show tomorrow night at LEK at the Abercrombie. We on stage at midnight. come along and get buck with us. our last one before we get back in december. And we excited about friday 13th at the beachey on Byron. Will be almost a bit of a homecoming show. And then Sunday 15th at Rics in Briz, should be dope too. Apparently the people at rics get retarded so it should be fun. Oh! and WDW, came in at 19 on the J TV video requests, so thankyou sooooo much, anyone who voted for it. and if you want to keep on that, go to J T V site and hit the request section, and badger them some more. thanks.
On other news, myself and a few friends are starting a club night in December called GYPSY 3000! GYPSY 3000! and we will be playing as described, Gypsy music as well as Balkan beats, and music that you wouldn't hear in any other club in Sydney, Rude Boy Ska, random Hip Hop, Afro BEat. It's gonna be mive. So add us as friends and you will get informed.
So we are tying up things in sydney. 3 weeks until off time. We had some great shows over the weekend. Saturday night in KAtoomba was kick !!! the kind of people we love, no wank, no guards, just ready to get totally spastic, and spastic we got! we ended the set ith an encore and i jumped on the drums whilst bryce got busy on the casio. Thursday was also good- a bit of a quiet crowd, and some technicalities (ie. Dj's pressing play on cd's when we were still playing- ggrrrrrr) but still good, we had the kids by the end of it. Oh, and on some unit shifting industry news- our Ep is number 16 on the A.I.R. charts. And I got a copy of the JJJ home & hosed compilation 'we dont walk' is on, and it is in great company, with the likes of Young & Restless, Angus & Julia Stone, Merle Morris, Midnight Juggernauts, The Exploders, The Valentino's etc etc.
So this saturday see's us at Spectrum, and please if you are reading this and are capable if coming, we'd love to have you there. We really rely on good, fun crowds, we feed off you like vampires. And shows are so much fun when people come to have fun and not just to judge. So come and get loose and we will make you lose your . Also, thanks to Sandwich Club Who mentioned us on their blog and who said "TPS are la merde". Photo courtesy of bloggerA Reminder .. see you at Spectrum!!!!!!
o. It has been a while since i blogged. I have been a bit over the business side of things and didnt want to go complaining to random people that like the music. So that's all that I'll say. Music and songs are exciting me at the moment. 5 songs that I'm really into at the moment-
Ventura HIghway= America Mushaboom= Feist Start Making Sense= Peter Bjorn and John Dirty Work= Steely Dan Little Lies=Fleetwood Mac.
It seems that I'm kinda leaning towards songs, really well written ones.
Life seems bigger than music at the moment, i suppose it always is. But we have a show that I will plug- Sat 23rd Sep at Spectrum. It is our last headline show till december. It is a party, with Wons Phreely who is a great singer songwriter- very quirky and crafted songs. Plus we have Brown Council who are 4 girls that do amazing performance pieces. They are doing a 15 minute piece that all I know about is that it is based on "Modern death and Roy Orbison" so that sounds exciting. It is a work they are taking up to the This Is Not Art FEstival in Newcastle, which is on the long weekend coming up. Also we have PH DJ- Martin from Boundary, who told me that it is pretty much his ambition in life to become a really good DJ, which is admirable, and also we have DJ Sir Charge who is Lachlan a friend who will play a random selection. So that will be fun and hopefully some of you peeps copme along and it is a sunny day that day and the day after so we can be tired and in the sun. I designed the poster, i hope people like it. It is the only artistic (visually) output i have at the moment, a lot of the time i just want to go back to art school, it is much easier just making stuff, but then again songs and sounds are what make me consistently happy and sane.

We have had it up to yin yang with bands releasing 3 ep's. we have the tunes and the studio and we are gonna do an album. So we are ing off from Sydney for 2 months. - More news- Pork Pies - which is me solo in a slightly less angry, loud mood, more acoustic, ukulele, down kind thing- is in our top 8 and I have a gig coming up in September. Played with Johnny Boy last night at Candy;s. Was cool to play in Sydney, lovely audience. And Temper Trap were really good- you should check them out myspace.com/thetempertrap.
Hey everyone in myspaz land. Just want to say thanks to everyone that came to our launch at Spectrum (see a nice run down of the night complete with set list at oceans never listen) and helped it be a sell out (woot!). It was a fun night, even if I was trying to fight off a mive headache and not feeling so good- since then unfortunately I've been in bed. I have been hit by some sort of viral up, migraines and aches and hot/cold fever. I'm so sorry to people in Newcastle, that we had to cancel the show up there, I was in bed all day and just couldn't do it, it would have been crap. Sincerely apologise, we really wanted to play a headline show there, and we are doing our best to reschedule a show, so please keep your eyes on our myspace page for that. So, will be in bed all day today and tomorrow, and then head to Melbourne on Tuesday for press stuff and then we got our launch there on Thursday night at Ding Dong and Adelaide Friday at Rocket Bar. So again sorry to you Novacastrians and thanks Sydneysiders. Love jai on behalf of TPS
